Kanye West? Please read and answer this 3 questions about him.?

Question # 1:Kanye West has had two #1 Billboard Hot 100: Stronger, Gold Digger(ft. Jamie Foxx), and other 6 Top-Ten Songs. Four Best Rap Song of the Year Grammy Award: Jesus Walks, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Good Life(ft. T-Pain), Run this Town(ft. Jay-Z, Rhianna). So why he is not one of the Best Rappers of All Time? People currently only say: Eminem, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, 50.

Question # 2: Why people keep saying things like: "I miss the old Kanye" or "We want Kanye back". In his Jesus Walks video someone post: "I'm sad at the end the devil could break him down". What happened to him? Did he sold his soul to the demon?

Question #3: Is DMX christian?

I am not 100% sure, but there is something going on where artists like Kanye West, KiD CuDi, and Beyonce have been romoured to be worshipping the devil or showing satanic symbols.

Jesus Hands Praying

Has anybody excavated beneath the giant praying hands at ORU to be sure it's not the remains of 900 ft. Jesus?

http://www.examiner.com/x-12574-Buffalo-Spirituality-Examiner~y2009m12d15-Oral-Roberts-and-the-900-foot-Jesus

i forgot about the 900 foot jesus, but i remember when the twit said if he didn't raise $8 million or so for his ministries/university years ago that "god was going to call him home". he got the coin, which is sad enough on its own...even sadder that he didn't see the irony in threatening his flock with his being sent to heaven if they didn't come off the cash.

maybe if they dig around under the praying hands they'll find some really big brass balls, cause i tell you, it took a pair to pull that scam off. maybe that's where he kept them.

Brown Jesus Wig

Trinity-ly Speaking: How do I dress as the holy ghost for Halloween?

Would I dress like Jesus? or would I dress like god? or a combination of all three? Should I wear a long brown wig AND a long white beard, fake blood on my hands and a styrofoam copy of the ten commandments, then maybe just throw a plain white sheet with eyeholes cut out over the top of it all? I'm confused.
MSB: Hmmmm that would cover Jesus and the ghost but I wouldn't want to leave out god, maybe I should carry a lightning bolt, or a hammer, Wait a second, nix the hammer, wrong god.
good thinking Universal pantheist. Should I wear the tutu under the sheet or over it?

I believe you'll need a tutu, and possibly a wand.

Edit: I suggest under the sheet, it would add that special "omph" to the whole ensemble... lol

Jesus Camp Michael Moore

Hardeep Singh Kohli, Well known English actor, comedian and all round entertainer makes a humorous foray into the world of scientology.

Consumed with curiosity about Scientology and its founder, L Ron Hubbard, Hardeep originally approached the church of scientology but was soundly rejected by the Church as being too much of a comedian and evidently not serious enough.

The producer of the documentary then approachedInternatiobnal Freezone Associatin who passed him on to Rons Orgs in the scientology freezone where the documentary was eventually made.

The scientology freezone is where scientologists who are not part of the official church practice the philosophy as originally developed by the founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Hardeep's parents instilled in him the Sikh perspective that there are many roads to God so, despite widespread criticisms of the Church of Scientology, he happily attempted to investigate its beliefs.

Founded by L Ron Hubbard in the 1950s, Scientology has some high profile celebrity supporters but the church is extremely reluctant to share its secrets.

He is told that the philosophy has many layers, that it's not easy to learn but is worth persevering with because it will improve his life but he is worried about rumors that Scientology and its offshoots use brainwashing. Hardeep finds a mentor to guide him through the principles of their religion, who takes him on a long train journey to a disused children's summer camp building hidden deep in snowy Russia, where the number of followers is growing steadily. Here he received his basic training.

Hardeep reads and reads. The book is simple but bizarre. He understands each individual word, he says, but not what they mean all together. His mentor says he should keep reading. He is being prepared for 'auditing', a process of one-to-one questions and answers, while the person being 'audited' holds a device that, according to devotees, measures the body's stress.

He and his mentor also do role-plays of the one-to-one 'auditing' to see whether they can make the other person react emotionally. The questions and answers are repetitive, simple and, in this weird setting, isolated from his own world, it is starting to make sense.

The 'auditing' session arrives and Hardeep's fears of brainwashing return. Holding on to the 'e-meter', he talks about what he wants to change in his life, puts some of his fears into words, and emerges from the session feeling 'lightheaded'. Did Hardeep find God through the teachings of L Ron Hubbard. 'That would be a tall order in two weeks,' he says.

The documentary follows Hardeep's journey of discovery as he finds out the basic simplicities that scientology teaches and that it is not as the media or critics paint but is a simple and effective way of improving and enjoying one's life.

Jesus Poster Christian

I've consulted dictionaries, but the use of the phrase "believes in" means (eg. believes in God, Jesus)?

I have seen several posts with an interesting rhetorical strategy:

The poster will say that "the devil/Satan 'believes in' God"

Does this mean that he simply believes that God exists?

Or do they (Satan and his legions) truly believe IN God, just like theists believe IN God and Christians believe IN Jesus?

This is also used as a defense that belief IN God is not sufficient to gain entry into heaven: Satan believes IN God but cannot go to Heaven. So I am led to believe that Satan may believe IN God the same way that theists do.

Doesn't saying "believe in" imply more than just a "belief of" something? I'm not playing semantic games here; I really would like to know.
Is "believes in" then different than "having faith in"?

It is almost purely semantics.

Someone might say, "I believe in unicorns."

This definitely means "existence".

Christians say, "Even satan believes in God."

Same thing. This means that satan believes God exists. In fact, satan KNOWS God exists.

I'm a linguist and a stickler for semantics. If you're going to say something, you'd better know what your words mean.

If someone says to me, "I believe in God," then they might very well MEAN something much deeper than they've just said, but the fact remains that the LANGUAGE they use is insufficient to convey the depth of their meaning.

Compare communication to any skill, say playing chess. If one person who knows how the peices move plays against someone who has a thorough understanding of opening theory, pawn structure, tactics, strategy, and endgame theory, who is going to win? Obviously the person with more tools in his shed is better at the game. Same thing applies to football, art, music, surgery, plumbing, etc...

So, a person with a limited vocabulary will not always be able to communicate their thoughts as effectively as a person with a vast vocabulary and mastery of grammar.

"Belief in God" is not the same as "acceptance of Jesus"

Jesus Genealogy Tree

How Impressive is Jesus' Genealogy?

Have you ever read about Jesus' genealogy? I would like to know what you have to say of such an impressive family tree. You could be surprised to ponder about it.

Yes sir, I have read about Jesus' genealogy and pondered about it, but I missed getting impressed because I looked behind the curtain.

Let me tell you about it. There are two reports about Jesus' genealogy in the NT. One is by Matthew and the other by Luke. There are differences in the names but the goal is the same: To trace Jesus' genealogy through Joseph as it has been always the custom in Judaism.

Matthew differs from Luke not only in tracing
Jesus' genealogy but also in his birth as a king, born in a house, God knows how gorgeous, visited by king-like men with golden gifts, and led by a star. Luke's baby Jesus, however, gets to be born in a manger, and is visited by poor, empty-handed shepherds. Thus, throughout each other's gospels, they do seem sometimes to be reporting about two different Jesuses.

The bottom line is that both, Matthew and Luke are tracing Jesus through Joseph. If Luke, as some churches defend, is tracing Jesus' genealogy through Mary, the book will be discredit for the huge number of contradictions.

First of all, the expression "as was supposed," between quotation marks in Luke 3:23 in the King James version, is an added interpolation by the translator to deny Jesus' filiation to Joseph. Without that interpolation the verse is read with Jesus being son of Joseph, which naturally, Jesus is placed into the lineage of David from the Tribe of Judah.

Those who wish to alienate Joseph from any genealogical relation with Jesus will do much better studying Luke a little further. He lets no one hang about Mary's own family three: That she was rather from the Tribe of Levi and not of Judah. In Luke 1:5 we have that Zechariah's wife, Elisabeth was of the daughters of Aaron the Levite. Also, in Luke 1:36 we have that Elisabeth was a cousin of Mary's. Therefore, Mary was from the Tribe of Levi. There is nothing better than that to relate her to the Tribe of Judah in the whole of the NT.

Now, Christianity is at a strait, isn't it? If Jesus was not son of Joseph, he could not be from the Tribe of Judah. If he was not from the Tribe of Judah, he could not be the Messiah. On the other hand, if Jesus was son of Joseph, it's granted that he was from the Tribe of Judah, but he could not be God's son according to Paul's Hellenistic gospel.

Yes, that's indeed a Christian dilemma. Jesus cannot be both, Messiah and son of God, and the NT offers no solution. If you have any, it must be from outside reference. Remember though, one thing is to declare things without facts; the other quite different one is to document it.

Jesus Poems Poetry

Edgar Lee Masters-The Village Atheist?

I am doing a poetry project for english..and i just happened to pick Edgar Lee Masters...and his poestry is freakin hard.
we have to pick 3 poems and explicate them..or...pick out the meaning....can someone help me with this one?

THE VILLAGE ATHEIST

YE young debaters over the doctrine
Of the soul’s immortality,
I who lie here was the village atheist,
Talkative, contentious, versed in the arguments
Of the infidels. 5
But through a long sickness
Coughing myself to death
I read the Upanishads and the poetry of Jesus.
And they lighted a torch of hope and intuition
And desire which the Shadow, 10
Leading me swiftly through the caverns of darkness,
Could not extinguish.
Listen to me, ye who live in the senses
And think through the senses only:
Immortality is not a gift, 15
Immortality is an achievement;
And only those who strive mightily
Shall possess it.

No , his poetry is anything but hard. He writes in a very simple style - basically the dead people in the cemetary talking to people passing by. Not hard at all. The particular poem you chose is a little tough. Are you locked into it because I can tell you better one. I know the book intimately.

This is basically the same concept that John Lennon was talking about when he said "God is a concept by which we measure our pain". That the more we are in pain the more we NEED God and believe in him.

This man was an altheist. However when he found himself sick and dying, he suddenly turned to religion - reading not only the works of Christianity but of other religions too. These words stirred him and stayed with him as he was led by "The Shadow" to his death. His message for people who are alive and living "through the senses only" - only believing in what they can see, hear, taste, smell and see is that immortality is an achievement and only those who strive mightly shall possess it - He is not referring to physical immortality but spiritual immortality - the belief that the soul goes on after life. What you should note about this poem is that like most of the others, we do not know this man's name. Why? Because he doesnt feel he earned immortality - or his name on a headstone for everyone to remember. Spirituality came too late for him. He isnt immortalized by a headstone with his name on it. He is just the anonymous village atheist. See??

As I said I am kind of an expert on Spoon River. I first came across it at the age of 16 when I auditioned for a local production of the play and was accepted. I performed many performanced of it, and it has never ever left me. Spoon River enters your soul and dwells there forever once you let it. If you need help choosing other poems - you can write me at deni913@hotmail.com - Pax - C

Jesus Saves Sticker

What do you think when you see people driving around with religious bumper stickers on their cars?

Saw one the other day, it was covered in " jesus saves" and "Obey the gospel" found it a bit sad really.

I live in Ireland so religious bumper stickers aren't that common and generally people don't shove religion in your face or want to ruin their cars with crap stickers...
Though it was a renault so it was actually an improvement.

Thoughts?
I wouldn't tell them to take them off people are entitled to their beliefs but at the same time you don't need to be so in your face with them either, and nah it didn't effect me, thought it was a bit ridiculous...and an eyesore.
No they weren't great at driving.
John M..i'm female, not a "lad"..and we have plenty of freedom here we just don't go on about it.

I live in Indiana and I see them all the time. I have to repeat over and over, Do not engage ramming speed, do not engage ramming speed.
