Jesus Apostles Death

Jesus foretold the End of Days to be in the lifetime of his apostles, who were the Biblical prophecies for?

It sounds to me that we weren't intended to be around this long after Jesus' death. Who are the Biblical prophecies warning if we are to have all been judged and relocated by now? Am I misinterpreting something?

I believe you are refering to Matthew 24: 34 "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place"

Jesus was speaking about the end of the Covenant of Moses through the destruction of the temple. Read Matthew 24 again, paying close attention to the first 3 verses; they asked Jesus when the Temple would be destroyed

Matthew 24:1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be?.......

Mexico hotel blast kills 5 Canadians, 2 Mexicans
A powerful explosion that killed five Canadian tourists and two Mexican workers at a resort hotel on Mexico's posh Riviera Maya was apparently caused by build up of gas from a nearby swamp, authorities said.

In Nazareth, a town oppressed by the devastating taxation practices of King Herod, a teenage girl, Mary, is told by her parents that they have arranged for her to marry Joseph. Distraught by the idea of marrying a man she hardly knows, Mary takes refuge in a grove to collect her thoughts. There, she is visited by an angel, who tells her that she has been chosen by God to bear his son. Despite the public scorn from an unwed pregnancy, together, Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem for a census mandated by the King. It is here, with a great celestial event revealing his prophecy, in a history-defining event, that Jesus is born.

Jesus Christ Quotes Christians

What do Christians think about these profound quotes ?

“There is strong reason to believe that St. Paul fabricated the belief system of Christianity from Zoroastrian mythology. In order to hide Paul’s plaigerism… Christians burned the library of Alexandria in 390 A.D. Books in that library kept Mithra’s original story of what Pauline Doctrine is an almost exact copy. (George Sarton , Introduction to History of Sciences) ,

“The son-ship of Jesus Christ is the greatest fiction of human history.” (Lord Bishop of Canterbury Commission, the Spiritual Head of England, 1910.)

“The son-ship of Jesus Christ, the Trinity, the blood sacrifice of the lamb of God, atonement are not the teachings of Jesus. These are all inventions of Saint Paul who never really met Jesus.” (Hastings Rashdall, The Theory of Good and Evil)

.

Paul was ok and had it right ...i dont trust a govt appointed spiritual head of england anymore than i trust the president .. and there were many that wrote of Jesus and His sacrifice other than Paul that had direct dealing with Jesus ..

Jesus Ministry Timeline

Christians - I have a question regarding...?

...Acts 5, where Luke writes of the Pharisee Gamaliel's speech (vv. 34-39)…. This speech would have taken place around AD 35-40, yet it refers to Theudas' revolt of AD 46-47 as a past event. Furthermore, Gamaliel is made to say that "Judas the Galilean" raised a revolt which followed that of Theudas - but Judas' revolt was in AD 6 or 7! We know these dates from Josephus, most notably, as well as from other records.

In addition, what are we to do with the wide variation of chronologies in the Gospels, different placements of pericopes in the timeline of Jesus' ministry (i.e the healing of the paralytic in Mk. 2), and the substantial disagreement of John with the other three, in terms of historical outline?

Thanks!

Please note first of all, such issues have been raised for centuries by serious and devote Christians. This is not a convenient form to answer your question. Your question about the Gospels can be answered by looking into a harmony of the gospels text. The question on Acts could be answered in a commentary on Acts. Reference books of this kind can be viewed at your public library or local Seminary or College library.

Jesus Easter Crafts

How did Jesus ascend into heaven?

Today is Easter. It is the day when Christ resurrected from the dead. It had been written he then went to see his disciples before ascending to the heavens.

Exactly how did he ascended to the heavens? What exactly happened? Did he lift off up to the heavens or did he just vanish? How did he exactly ascend into the heavens? Was a craft used?
I mean, how could Jesus ascend up? Where could he go?
It was very clear to me in what way he ascended up and how could he possibly go up when there is nothing up there except outer space.
EDIT: There was a typo error. It was NOT very clear to me and that is why I am asking this question.

Wormhole.

Jesus God Quotes

Where in the bible does it say Jesus was God in the flesh ? Can you quote the scripture that states it planly?

I would love to see the scripture that say's that Jesus was God in the flesh.

I am no judge of the fate of the mayority of answerers here Lone, but I can see where they are heading with their answers. Through 'the wide gate and broad road' - Matt. 7:13

The mayority has spoken.

Jesus Bible Quotes

When Jesus quoted the bible did he quote the OT of the NT?

Obvious answer ,I know .
If Jesus did not need the NT why do we ?

First let us look at the Gospels.

These record events of Christ's ministry, and the quotes that you mentioned. So, we need the Gospels.

Acts of the Apostles tell the history of the work that Jesus commissioned them to do, and clearly shows his backing.

Now the letters.

The change from the Jewish system of hundreds of laws, and a physical temple with a priesthood, to a brotherhood of ministers, who all were assigned to share in the ministry was a major and new concept. All other faiths in the world at that time focused on the similar pattern that the Jews had.

How then did this brotherhood handle the change? The letters of Paul, Peter, John, Jude and James showed the different needs that this expanding congregation, tied by faith, and not by family or by nationality had to face and the counsel that this body of men gave to deal with them.

We see with Paul's letters the importance of the events recorded in the Hebrew scriptures, the pattern that was set in them to point to the Christ and his ministry.

(Acts 3:22-23)
22 In fact, Moses said, ‘Jehovah God will raise up for YOU from among YOUR brothers a prophet like me. YOU must listen to him according to all the things he speaks to YOU. 23 Indeed, any soul that does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people.’

(2 Corinthians 3:7-11)
7 Moreover, if the code which administers death and which was engraved in letters in stones came about in a glory, so that the sons of Israel could not gaze intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, [a glory] that was to be done away with, 8 why should not the administering of the spirit be much more with glory? 9 For if the code administering condemnation was glorious, much more does the administering of righteousness abound with glory. 10 In fact, even that which has once been made glorious has been stripped of glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels it. 11 For if that which was to be done away with was brought in with glory, much more would that which remains be with glory.

(Romans 10:5-10)
5 For Moses writes that the man that has done the righteousness of the Law will live by it. 6 But the righteousness resulting from faith speaks in this manner: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ that is, to bring Christ down; 7 or, ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.” 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your own mouth and in your own heart”; that is, the “word” of faith, which we are preaching. 9 For if you publicly declare that ‘word in your own mouth,’ that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration for salvation.

And then the book of Revelation.

John did not have much of a choice. He was given this revelation for the future generation that would be living in days of the Lord.

(Revelation 1:10,11)
10 By inspiration I came to be in the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a strong voice like that of a trumpet, 11 saying: “What you see write in a scroll and send it to the seven congregations, in Eph?e?sus and in Smyr?na and in Per?ga?mum and in Thy?a?ti?ra and in Sar?dis and in Philadelphia and in La?o?di?ce?a.”

So, to be a Christian, we need all the writings that help us to deal with the same issues that faced the 1st Century congregation.

Jesus Freaks Books

Proof "god" and "jesus" existed?

im an atheist, but i go to catholic highschool(i know ironic), well in my religion book it says there is physical and historical evidence that jesus existed, but they never say where or what that proof is. And all these religious freaks keep saying that there is proof that god exists.WHERE IS THIS PROOF? and dont say "Look around you" because if i look around right now all i see is buildings, and a little forest that is being torn down to be made into a parking lot. so for all you religious people: what and where is this proof that god and jesus exist?

even the talmud (jewish scribes) writes about Yeshua and acknowledges him as a man. ey just dont accept the deity of Yeshua. they think he was a prophet only. these records go back as far as biblical times......maybe take a trip to israel and search this out for yourself?

Jesus Easter Sunday

"That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death..."

(Philippians 3:10)

Christianity can't exist without resurrection. The main difference of Christianity and other religions is the reality of resurrection. All other religions have founders who were born, lived and died - only Christianity is worshiping Jesus who was not only born, who not only lived and died, but He rose again from the death.

A well known Easter song says: " Christ is resurrected from dead, stepping with death over death and giving life to those laying in the tombs". The apostle Paul says that there is no faith and hope without resurrection.

Our tendency is to put more accent on Christmas, because of the commercial aspect, but you can't be a Christian without believing and without experiencing the resurrection.

The purpose of Paul was to know Jesus and to personally experience the power of Jesus resurrection.

The power of resurrection brings victory over sin. Is not only about forgiveness of the sins, but it's about being victorious over the root of the sins, the sin itself. The resurrection is giving us power to be like Jesus, sinless and accepted by God.

Without the existence of the resurrection there is not salvation, because Jesus would have been only a good teacher, a kind man who died unjustly...and this is the end of the story.

Resurrection is showing us that Jesus' sacrifice was accepted and the New Covenant is now valid.

The power of resurrection brings victory over death. The fear of death is the worst enemy of our happiness. We live our lives under this dark cloud - death and our lives are affected dramatically by the fear of death. But since we know that Jesus was there and is victorious, we are no longer afraid to die with Him, because we know that we will be resurrected with Him.

The power of resurrection is the power to live. "And the life is worth to live, because He lives." Many people don't find a good reason to live, but the apostle Paul says he knows and pursue only one purpose and this is enough for him: TO KNOW JESUS.

Knowing Jesus is not the boring Sunday service, is not the boring and long sermon, but is a living relationship, a wonderful daily experience of His character, of His providence and of His love.

Why do you live? Is your life full of power and joy ? If not reconsider your position toward RESURRECTION and start living it's experience in your life.

Jesus Disciples Death

Did Jesus make a mistake about His disciples seeing the kingdom come in their life times?( Matt 16:28 )?

Have Jehovah's Witness leaders been doing the same thing?

Jesus told His disciples that some of the would not see death until they saw Him coming in His kingdom. Yet, during the life of the apostles, Jesus never returned to set up His kingdom.

What are your thoughts about this?

His Kingdom has come, Jesus rules the Earth spiritually from heaven through His church until He returns again.

RC Sproul explains this very well here:

Jesus Diet Bible

Why don't all Christians follow the Biblical diet (kosher)??

I know only one Christian who does and he is very into Black power. Also I believe Rastafarians follow something close to it and call it i-tal. But why don’t all Christians follow the Biblical diet? Jesus did. It’s in the Bible, check out Leviticus and Deuteronomy. It seems to me that to be a good Christian, you should keep kosher! God apparently found it important enough to tell Moses about. Why????
I'm asking WHY it's for Jews when it's in the Bible. If Jesus said something different can you tell me where it says that so I can look?
Christians follow some other laws God told Moses, like the 10 Commandments. I guess they pick and choose which are most convenient??
No, no, animal sacrifice was only allowed in the temple in Jerusalem and that is why we don't do it anymore... the temple fell.
Lots of people saying OT laws don't apply anymore. WHAT ABOUT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS????

Many Christians believe that the death of Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses. Therefore, Christians do not follow the laws of the Old Testament, which includes the kosher laws. Personally, I believe eating kosher foods makes a person more spiritual and do not advise anyone to eat any foods that fall into the unkosher categories, like pig, shellfish, mixing meat and dairy products, etc.
